2024 COLLEGE BOARD SCHOLARSHIPS

PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE COLLEGE BOARD DIRECTLY UNTIL REGISTRATION IS OPEN, DECEMBER 2023.

The APSI Scholarship applications for all three scholarships (see below) will be available on the College Board AP Teacher Scholarships website beginning December 2023 of the year prior to the institute:

APSI Scholarship Programs 2024

AP is offering scholarships to teachers for AP Summer Institutes through four programs, detailed below.

Scholarship Program Timeline: Application launch - December, 2023

Teacher Application Deadline for AP Fellows and AP Rural Fellows: February 12, 2024

Application Deadline for AP Capstone: March 4, 2024

Notification of Scholarship Award: March 22, 2024

Letter of Commitment (LOC) Paperwork Due (required to officially claim scholarship): April 15, 2024

AP Fellows

AP Fellows is an annual competitive grant program that provides AP Summer Institute scholarships for high school teachers at schools serving minority or low-income students who have been traditionally underrepresented in AP courses.

Scholarship Amount: $1,000.00 max– for cost of tuition and lab fees (when applicable) only.*

Eligible AP subjects: All AP subjects EXCEPT AP Capstone (Seminar and Research)

*Please note: Scholarship only covers the cost of tuition and lab fees (if applicable) up to the scholarship amount; all other APSI costs, including but not limited to tuition cost above scholarship amount, lodging and food, are the responsibility of the scholarship recipient and should be billed to the scholarship recipient not the College Board.

Scholarship Requirements:

Teachers must:

  • Be planning to teach an AP course, meeting the scholarship criteria, in the upcoming academic year; and

  • Teach in schools that meet the following criteria:

    • At least 50 percent of the student population consists of underrepresented minority (African-American, Hispanic/Latino, and/or American Indian) students; and/or

    • At least 50 percent of the student population qualifies for free or reduced-price lunch; and

      • Not have received a College Board APSI scholarship for the same subject within the last three years.

AP Rural Fellows ​​

AP Rural Fellows is an annual competitive grant program that provides AP Summer Institute scholarships for teachers serving in rural areas of the country. The scholarship can be used for all AP subjects except AP Capstone Research or Seminar.

Scholarship Amount: $1,500 max – for cost of tuition and lab fees (when applicable) only.*

Eligible AP Subjects: All AP subjects EXCEPT AP Capstone (Seminar and Research)

*Please note: Scholarship only covers the cost of tuition and lab fees (if applicable) up to the scholarship amount; all other APSI costs, including but not limited to tuition cost above scholarship amount, lodging and food, are the responsibility of the scholarship recipient and should be billed to the scholarship recipient not the College Board.

Scholarship Requirements:

Teachers must:

  • Be planning to teach an AP course, meeting the scholarship criteria, in the upcoming academic year; and

  • Teach at schools that are classified as “rural” by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and in which at least 50 percent of the student qualify for free or reduced-price lunch; and

  • Not have received a College Board APSI scholarship for the same subject within the last three years.

Application components - 2023 AP Rural Fellows Application - 2023 AP Rural Fellows Recommendation Form — must be completed by the applicant’s principal, assistant principal, department head, or staff member who assigns courses. See the attached links:

AP Capstone Scholarship

These scholarships are awarded to AP Capstone teachers with no sources of funding who are planning to attend the AP Capstone summer professional development event.

Scholarship Amount: By way of a fee waiver code to cover cost of tuition and lab fees (where applicable) only**

Eligible AP Subject: ONLY AP Capstone (Seminar and Research)
